I find myself at times when I look in the mirror I see the effects of age, I have changed in areas which is normal, the body is ageing.I don't always like it if I'm being honest with you, but in order to like whats going on with the outside, the inside image needs an overhaul ! The world is so full of vanity,we spend so much time on this image on the outside. I myself have got caught up in it , the image !
Our true image can only come from God, and where do we find that image, one place only His WORD. We will not find true peace or true identity if we don't look in the mirror of the word, and let that be your identity.
This is a powerful scripture in Proverbs 4:20-23, My Son pay attention to what I say: listen closely to my words. Do not let them out of your sight, keep them within your heart; for they are life to those who find them and health to a man's whole body. Above all else ,guard your heart, for it is the wellspring of life.
There is so much right here in these verses, the bible is full of other scriptures but I love this in Proverbs and I just want to touch on these. The first thing God is really trying to say is"HELLO" my son or daughter take time to let my words have 1st place in your life. "Why" because it's time well spent to give attention to my words,it is not wasted time.If you don't take this first step to attend to His words and listen closely to his sayings, how can you trust A God you know nothing about. Don't spend time listening to negative reports!
The 2nd thing is don't let them out of your sight, that will be our choice to do this, that's not just with your natural eyes, but in the book of Ephesians 1;18- I pray also that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you my know the hope to which he has called you ,the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, and his incomparably great power for us who believe.
The Holy Spirit in us can do this work, so we need to stay long enough to get understanding with our spiritual eye's to see this way, He loves us so much and never leaves us, he doesn't want us to jump ship when things get tough or people rub us the wrong way.
The 3rd thing is to keep them in your heart, hold onto them dearly. Don't let other people try to discourage you or circumstances steal the word out of your heart. Our enemy uses these things to remove you from the love walk with the Lord and get you out of faith. The bible has to be personal to you, that all of God's promises are "Yes and Amen", God said it, I believe it, that settles it! Stay connected to God the Father ! Let his words become what you see when you look in the mirror!
The 4th is they are life to those who find them! Life is your everyday affair's, so when you are faced with life, and those words you have paid attention to are now ready to put into effect, you move from just believing to knowing! You say I know God will be there for me always! Believing leads to knowing and knowing leads to receiving from God!
The Authority of the believer comes along side the word to enhance your authority and you see results!
The 5th is health to a man's whole body, this word is and should be our medicine when we are sick, not that we cant take other medicine, thank God for Doctor's. In the mean time build yourself up by giving the word the attention and believe for healing in any area.I have done this myself many times and still am a work in progress!
The 6th is Above all else guard your heart, for it is the wellspring of life. There is an enemy that wants to Break in - DOUBT AND UNBELIEF , so keep your self full of the word, and when it knocks, answer it with what the words says! Then when you look in the mirror you will see a the image of Jesus at work in you, knowing that you can accomplish anything !! He loves you!!
