Are you allowing yourself to be a HOSTAGE?

We have all seen movies on television where their was a hostage taken, someone was taken without their consent! This might seem like a weird question, but it is really a relevant question to a christian who is not experiencing a joyful, overcoming, winners attitude  life! A  right attitude in their thinking! I use that word because in someways many Christian's are trapped in their"wrong thinking", and"wrong belief" of who they are in Christ! Their thinking does not line up with how God wants them to succeed, how God loves them, and who they are in Christ. So who has taken them HOSTAGE?  The bible says in John 10:10- The thief comes to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.

First of all if you don't believe Jesus himself quoted that verse, and, that it was a direct warning from him, then you are already a hostage in your  thinking! We corporate when we lower our thinking, and say I'm only human, it's only normal for me to feel this way or act this way. I can't stop myself from doing all these bad things, something just makes me do it.  If you get a doctors report that said theirs nothing they can do for me, and we say IF YOU SAY SO! These are total lies, and  you can stop them because of what JESUS did at the  cross and  his Resurrection!

Psalm 103:3- who forgives all your sins and HEALS ALL YOUR DISEASES
Psalm 91:9- If your make the Most High your dwelling even the Lord who is my refuge- then no harm will befall you


We must not embrace the mind set of defeat, Satan's" ONLY" authority into our lives rest on the fact that we start agreeing with our" circumstances" that try to defeat us. That is his inroad into our lives, and the only way he can attack a born again child of God! No one is alone, we all have struggles at times, BUT,First of all we must believe we have authority in the name of Jesus, and that Satan is defeated. He only has the power we give him, to twist things, and then believe things. That is why it  is so important to know what the word of God says in this area!

We need to take responsibility for our actions, and start acting like sons and daughter of the most high God. Christianity is not what we can get God to do- Its a finished work. We need to find out what He's done in the word, and reach out and take it! When we find ourselves saying I can't, I tried it, BUT, it's not working! That feeling of Powerlessness is a revelation of your unbelief - or ignorance, and you are defeated the moment you believe that. You have separated yourself from God, and are allowing yourself to be held Hostage in your thinking. Your missing your authority in Christ! Unlike a person who has literally been taken hostage in the natural, you can free yourself through believing what the word says and start speaking to your circumstances to change in the name of Jesus!


We should be atmosphere changers, not hostages in our own circumstances of defeat! We are alive and as born again sons and daughters of God,  their is a world of people out their who need to see the light in us, we need to start being bold.What goes in comes out, Jesus said it himself! Matthew 12: 34- 37 - For out of the overflow of the heart the mouth speaks . The good man brings good things out of the good stored up in him, and the evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in him. But I tell you that men will have to give account on the day of judgment for every careless word they have spoken. For by your words you will be acquitted . and by your words you will be condemned. 

Whatever is in your heart will create the world you live in, our future is in our heart. That's what that verse speaks! HOSTAGE, OR FREE!

The good news is we can put Gods laws into motion and start persevering, resist the devil because he will flee James 2:6 says it. The law of hearing, the law of actions and the law of saying something. These are kingdom laws for us to act upon and see results

God won't force you to do anything, but we must cooperate, line ourselves up with His word. A good example, I like, is the woman with the issue of blood in Mark 5:25-This woman suffered and was subject to bleeding, and was under the care of doctors. What this woman did, she put these spiritual laws into action, she first HEARD, FAITH COMES BY HEARING THE WORD OF GOD.  Romans 10:17. Then she SAID, Mark 11:23- Whoever would say to the mountain, ,Proverbs 18:21- Death and life are in the tongue. Then she was aggressive, pushed through the crowd Matthew 11:12- From the days of John the Baptist until now, the kingdom of heaven has been forcefully advancing, and forceful men lay hold of it.

She wasn't going to let anything stop her from receiving her healing that day. This woman was not sized up by Jesus to pass approval, he didn't even know who touched him, but said "who touched me"? He made laws of gravity and they work when we put them into motion. He created laws how his power works - through putting into action His WORD. That is what this women did that day, and that is why it worked! We just need to do the same and not be Hostage to our circumstances!

How do you see God ?

There are many opinions of God, the God of the Old Testament, and the God of the New Testament! Some people don't even let the bible get in the way of what they believe, others are misinformed greatly. Do I write this to sit in judgement, or thinking I know everything, absolutely not! I do believe the bible has all the answers to know  Gods character! When you are born again, the bible says seek and you shall find, knock and the door will be opened! This is such a great invitation he offers here, He is saying I want to take over all the expenses of your life! God is offering you a look into one of greatest books every written. If your thirsty he offers you to come to drink from him and you will never thirst again. He is offering us eternal life, he is offering us a unconditional love, a love that is saying don't clean your act up first, but come as you are and I will make you whole. He is a God who so loved the world, that he gave his one and only Son to die for us, and all who believe in him,,shall not perish, but have eternal life!!

That right there sounds like a God I would love to know. A God I have come to love, who continues to show himself to me everyday. The thing is we must make room for Him in our lives, We must let His WORD be first place in our lives.  To many they don't know God in that light, and that's just touching on a small amount of his character. Some see him with the Old Testament eyes, not with the eyes of your heart, here's how Paul said it, Ephesians 1:17- I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation so that you may know him better. I pray also that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you , the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, and his incomparably great power for us who believe.

That tells me that we are able to know this wonderful God. The word of God says He is the same yesterday, today, forever, He is, and will  always will be a God of Love!

So why are so many Sons and Daughters left wandering around in a wilderness of defeat? I believe they don't know God's character, I believe they gauge him according to things happening in their own life. Lets face it, we all have had a friend or someone hurt us,in some way, some how, and we may have said that's it, I will never trust them again! Or we may have said, I won't trust ANY one again, so without knowing it, we put up walls up around us. Then their is a filter that we view people through, and believe it or not, God falls into that category as well for many!If a prayer wasn't answered,this is where God gets his character judged. Some were left with only a huge question of disappointment!The good news is their are real answers to real disappointments, but you have to really want to find them.

In the book of John 8:12-47 Jesus is talking to the people and telling them who he is! He said I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life. He also said to them if you hold to my teaching you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth, and truth will set you free. That is the key right in that statement! The Pharisees challenged him on many things in this chapter about who HE WAS. They couldn't see the truth, and it was right in front of them. Love was in their presence. He wanted them to see if they hold to his teaching then that would make them free. Jesus told them you are ready to kill me, and you have no place for my word. He wanted them to see who they were listening to, and it wasn't His Father! Jesus also told them because they couldn't HEAR what he was saying about who he was they were listening to their father," the devil".

I know God has many promises in his word for the church, do all walk in them, do all get to experience his goodness, do all believe enough to cross the line, and say I'm going the distance with this God of the bible? That's a  big question, but one we need to ask ourselves, and not be like the Pharisees here in that chapter and doubt God's character. We need to seek and we will find, knock and the door will open, and we need to  believe that when we drink we will never thirst for any other thing but Jesus! He is a good and loving Shepard, He is the way, the truth and the life! So get to know the God of this bible, and let him take down all these walls and false pretense's. Act on truth and  you will be set free, continue in truth, value the word and more will come!

The Spirit of Faith is the Spirit of Victory!

Paul the Apostle knew what it was to have trouble on every side, he writes about it in 2 Corinthians 4:8 . He was hard pressed on every side, perplexed ( unable to understand something clearly or think clearly) He was  persecuted, struck down. Did he just leave it at that when he confessed that, when he wrote about it,? Did he stop there? Have you ever experienced some of these things in life? Or do you do as Paul did and "say with that Spirit of Faith" No, we may be hard pressed on every side, BUT not  crushed; perplexed but not in despair; we may be having some persecution in our lives, BUT, GOD did not abandoned me; Struck down, BUT not destroyed!  You may have experienced some of these things, but its what you believe and say that's the difference! When the devil has given you his best shot, we should do as Paul did, none of these things move me. Paul's Faith was talking, other wise he couldn't have said all these things! 2 Corinthians 4:13- I believed; therefore I have spoken. With the same spirit of faith we also believe and therefore speak.

In Luke 17:5 the disciples asked Jesus to increase there faith! Can we have more faith ? I believe we can, faith comes from hearing and hearing the anointed word of Christ. I believe Jesus wanted them to see that the faith they had right now, as small as a mustard seed was enough. The key was to "say", he said it in that scripture," you can say to this mulberry tree,  be uprooted and planted in  the sea, and it will obey you". The Faith we have right now, that's the faith we start with. We don't need to beg for more faith!

Do I know all there is to faith, have I arrived, certainly not. I never want to get to a place where I "Don't hear it like  you've heard it"! The word does say that we overcome by faith, and if we get out of the arena of faith, where does that put us? It puts us into enemy territory, and he doesn't use the front door either with us. His scheme is to get you out of faith and into reasoning, feeling what it looks like. Look at Paul's confession of faith in that verse!

If we find ourselves getting depressed because our faith hasn't produced certain things yet, we have left the realm of faith and the enemy has you in the realm of reason, don't take your  armor off,  Ephesians 6:10

HEBREWS 11;1- Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see. That says a lot doesn't it, if we are to be faith people we must not be drawn to the things we see, feel, and reasoning, we will fail every time. But the grace of GOD will teach us, help us!

What pleases God?" FAITH"and faith is what is not seen, so that means trusting God before the results show up, the same way the hero's of faith  did in this chapter! That's why this chapter "BY FAITH" is written  for our example, they never quit functioning in faith. Don't let the devil  take you out with all kinds of accusations, it starts in your thought life, defeat, depression, get back in the arena of faith. The bible tells us the just shall walk by faith, how do you do that? Not by sight, just believe! Believe when you talk to him he hears you! God is not looking for us to do do do, before we get his attention, its simple faith, belief in Him. Abraham was a man and got Gods attention and was called a friend of God, even before he was circumcised, before the covenant was cut. So that shows old testament, we have a better covenant today, God sees the heart and with heart we believe, so when I shout the victory from my faith believing heart that gets Gods attention and pleases Him! So the Spirit of faith is the Spirit of Victory!

2 Corinthians 2: 14- In the Messiah, in Christ, God leads us from place to place in one perpetual victory parade. Through us, he brings knowledge of Christ. Everywhere we go, people breathe in the exquisite fragrance. Because of Christ , we give off a sweet scent rising to God, which is recognized by those on the way to salvation-an aroma redolent with life.
